Lithium Battery Safety

In an emergency do not inhale smoke because gases are toxic. Do not attempt to extinguish. Please first call 999 followed by Security:

In an emergency, make sure to follow STOP:

S – Stop charging
If it is safe to do so.
T – Take people away
Move people away from the area.
O – Obtain help
Raise the alarm.
P – Prevent reuse and report
Prevent the battery from being used again and report the incident.

Correct 

•  Use manufacturer-approved chargers only
•  Charge on hard, non-combustible surfaces
•  Report swelling, heat, odour or damage immediately
•  Use WEEE bins for end-of-life batteries

Incorrect

•  Charge in escape routes, corridors or stairwells
•  Use counterfeit, unbranded or incompatible chargers
•  Charge on beds, sofas or other soft furnishings
•  Put lithium batteries in general waste or recycling
