Professor Usha Menon

Professor Usha Menon is Professor of Gynaecological Oncology with a research focus on early detection of cancer. She is Lead for Training and Capacity Strengthening at the MRC CTU at University College London, UK. She is also an honorary consultant gynaecologist at UCLH NHS Trust.
An experienced trialist, Usha has over 400 publications with a key focus on early detection and risk prediction of ovarian cancer. Her group is best known for the largest ovarian cancer screening trials to date – The UK Collaborative Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening (UKCTOCS) and the UK Familial Ovarian Cancer Screening Study (UKFOCSS). that have shaped current guidelines. The trial bioresources include unique collections of serial samples that predate cancer diagnosis and support numerous collaborations exploring novel biomarkers for early detection of cancer.
In recent years, a major focus has been strengthening clinical trials capacity, especially in low-middle-income countries. Contributions include a clinical trials toolkit and an ethics application platform for India, an MRC CTU knowledge hub on The Global Health Network, setting up training and exchange bursaries for LMIC trialists, and helping partner organisations develop Masters's programmes in Clinical Trials.
Professor Glenn McCluggage
Professor Glenn McCluggage is a Consultant Histopathologist at Royal Group of Hospitals Trust, Belfast, and an Honorary Professor in Gynaecological Pathology at Queen’s University of Belfast. He has published more than 720 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including original publications and many invited editorials and reviews. He is on the Editorial Board of several major pathology journals (Modern Pathology, Human Pathology, Advances in Anatomic Pathology, International Journal of Gynecological Pathology, Virchows Archives), a member of the International Advisory Board of Journal of Clinical Pathology, and associate editor of Histopathology. He is a past President of the International Society of Gynaecological Pathologists and was previously secretary of this society. Previously he was President of the British Association of Gynaecological Pathologists. He has an extremely busy referral practice and receives numerous consultation cases from all over the world. He has been invited to lecture at numerous national and international meetings. He has authored or co-authored the various Royal College of Pathologists datasets in the United Kingdom on reporting gynaecological malignancies and has chaired the ICCR (International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting) panels developing international guidelines for reporting endometrial, ovarian, and cervical carcinomas. He is also the ICCR series champion for gynaecological neoplasms. He has been part of the last four WHO groups formulating the classification of Tumours of the Female Genital Tract, and is one of the editors on the recently published 2026 WHO Classification.
Professor Gareth Evans
Professor Evans has established a national and international reputation in clinical and research aspects of cancer genetics, particularly in neurofibromatosis and breast cancer. He has developed a clinical service for cancer genetics in the North West Region of England, which is nationally regarded. He is an important opinion leader nationally through membership of committees and was chairman of the NICE Familial Breast Cancer Guideline Development Group (2002-2010) and is now clinical lead (2011-). He lectures throughout the UK and internationally on hereditary breast cancer and cancer syndromes.
Prof Evans has published 1180 peer reviewed research publications; 389 as first or senior author. He has published over 160 reviews and chapters and has had a book published by Oxford University Press on familial cancer. He has an ISI web of knowledge H-index of 156 and google scholar of 201 having only published his first article in 1990. In the last 8 years he has raised over £55 million in grants for multicentre and local studies – approximately £45 million to Manchester. He is Chief Investigator on two NIHR program grants (2009-2014-£1.59 million) (2017-2020-£1million) on breast cancer risk prediction and also has an NIHR RfPB grant as CI (2011). He has led a successful bid for a nationally funded NF2 service (£7.5 million pa) that started in 2010 and is involved in the national complex NF1 service. He is overall cancer lead (3 themes) and Cancer Prevention Early Detection theme lead on the successful all Manchester NIHR Biomedical research centre bid (2017-2022-£28.5million). He is lead clinician on the NICE familial breast cancer guideline group and until recently a trustee of Breast Cancer Now and the Neuro Foundation. He is on the editorial board of JNCI and is a board member of the Science Strategy Committee of Breast Cancer Now. He was elected a fellow of the learned Society of Wales (FLSW) in 2020 and FRCOG ad eundem in 2021.

Mr Ertan Saridogan
Mr Ertan Saridogan is a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine and Minimal Access Surgery at University College London Hospitals. He is a past President of the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy and International Society of Reproductive Surgery, and current President of the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy. He is also a member of the ESHRE and ESGE/ESHRE/WES Endometriosis Guideline Development Groups. His clinical interests include laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery for benign gynaecological conditions, reproductive surgery, endometriosis, fibroids and outpatient hysteroscopy. His research interests include noninvasive diagnosis of endometriosis, clinical outcomes following endometriosis surgery, outpatient hysteroscopy, and the place of screening and risk reducing surgery in women with a history of familial cancer.
Mr Hisham Hamed
Mr. Hamed was a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, London, UK, for over 30 years. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London. He is currently a full-time private practitioner at HCA-London Bridge Hospital.
Mr. Hamed graduated from Cairo University, Egypt and received his postgraduate surgical training in the UK. He has been a fellow of the RCS since 1983 and obtained his doctorate from the University of London. Mr. Hamed is a Breast surgeon with over 30 years’ experience in treating all aspects of breast diseases, both in women and men. He was the surgical lead for Southeast London Breast Cancer Screening Program and the clinical and audit breast surgery lead at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital.
He also chaired MDMs. He was a teacher, examiner and educational supervisor at King’s College London as well as a surgical tutor for the London deanery breast trainees. Mr. Hamed is a member of a number of learned societies. He was the breast surgical lead for a unique multidisciplinary genetic clinic at Guy’s Hospital, providing expert management for women at high risk of breast cancer and carriers of breast cancer genes. He sits on several steering committees for Breast Cancer Prevention, Breast Cancer Risk Prediction and cancer genetics, Young Onset Breast Cancer and was PI for several Breast Cancer trials. He has many publications in the field of Beast Diseases, contributed to published books and presented at national & international Breast conferences. He has a special interest in familial and heritable breast cancer, benign breast disease, breast cancer prevention, and oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery.
