PhD student

Hi, my name is Jess! I’ve recently joined the Eizaguirre lab at Queen Mary University of London. Last year I completed my master’s degree at the University of Southampton in which I looked at using the isotopic composition of otolith carbonate as a proxy for metabolic rate in a range of fish species. Before that, I studied Marine Biology at the University of St Andrews, focussing in my final year on bycatch and discarding patterns of sharks in the North Atlantic. For my PhD, I will be adopting a large-scale ocean modelling approach to investigate the influence of ocean dynamics and climate on the spatial distribution, movement patterns, and adaptation of sea turtles. I can’t wait to get started and see where it leads!
