The Year 3 PhD cohort day will take place on Tuesday, 03 September 2019.

The event will take place on the Mile End campus, Law building, room 210.

The Doctoral College 3rd Year Cohort Day covers the theme of employability, exploring career options after the PhD.

This course has two aims:

  • To provide faculty-specific advice on how to construct effective CVs and applications for academic and non-academic roles.
  • To give you the opportunity to engage and network with a range of QMUL PhD alumni that have gone into a range of interesting careers, both academic and non-academic.

The event will include speakers from a range of different career sectors – from research in- and outside academia, to consultancy, communication and industry – to share their experience of the job market with Year 3 PhD students.

All the QMUL alumni attending have PhDs and have moved into a variety of careers following their PhD. This event provides the opportunity to pick the brains of past alumni as well as getting some advice on how to make your CV suitable for a range of roles.

This course is run in two session.

The morning session will cover information on research impact and effective research communication.
The afternoon session will cover wellbeing, how to maintain momentum, and work-life-balance in PhD studies.
Attendees have to sign-in for both session to secure CPD points for attending this course.

The event is now open for registration.

To register for this course please to go to www.cpdbookings.qmul.ac.uk and search for course code DC300
