About the Event

Doing a PhD is a big commitment – intellectually and personally. However, we are interested in making this opportunity open to as many people as possible.  Whilst the PhD is a huge undertaking, at QMUL we want to make sure that everyone understands what is involved, and why it is a great opportunity for many.

This event gives you the chance to consider why you might want to do a PhD, the funding available to support you and give a realistic view of what is involved in undertaking a PhD and whether it could be an option for you. We're especially keen to welcome students from diverse backgrounds and those blazing a trail as the first in their family to enter higher education.

Who should attend?

Students undertaking their undergraduate degree, taught or research master's course who are considering progressing on to do a PhD.

Come along and get the chance to:

  • Identify valid reasons for undertaking a PhD
  • Find out what's really involved in doing a PhD
  • Ask any questions about what the PhD experience is like
  • Work out your next steps
