Summer Arts Project - Call for submissions

This past academic year Nandini Hayes and Louise Younie launched Barts and the London Arts, an organisation which acknowledges and celebrates the creative work of FMD students and staff. Barts and the London Arts curated a highly successful exhibition in May 2022 featuring paintings, drawings, sculptures and photography.

With aspirations to diversify and expand alternative forms of expression within the BL student and staff community, this summer Barts and the London Arts invites all FMD staff to take part in a Summer Arts Project and to create a piece of artwork over the summer holiday under the theme Metamorphosis (change or transformation).

The artwork can be in any media eg, sketches, drawings, paintings, photography, musical composition, embroidery, carving, painted vinyl records, jewellery, poetry, crochet, in fact anything that inspires you, and the theme is open to all forms of interpretation.

All participants will be invited to display their work in the Old Library around Christmas time, and we will celebrate the end of the year with mince pies, music and your art.

Submissions can be made via a Google form and are open until the 31st October, 2022. A 200-300-word reflection on your piece of art is also required, this will be displayed with the artwork. You can submit up to three pieces for consideration.

The Summer Arts Project is a perfect way for you to showcase your artistic talents and celebrate achievements unrelated to curriculum delivery. Participants are encouraged to draw inspiration from their experiences in healthcare, medical sciences as well as subjects entirely unrelated to Medicine.
