Queen Mary in the UK Three Minute Thesis® final for the first time

We are thrilled that the Queen Mary 3 Minute Thesis (3MT®) winner, Vinaya Srirangam Nadhamuni from the Barts Cancer Institute, has made it to the UK 3MT® final after competing against PhD contestants from 52 institutions! Vinaya’s talk is titled ‘The war on cancer: understanding the immune system's strategies for fighting bowel cancer’.

The contestants have just three minutes to tell a non-specialist audience about their PhD research and results, while keeping their presentation interesting. The winner of the judges’ vote will receive a £3000 grant to spend on a public engagement activity and the People’s Choice winner will receive a £1000 grant.

This is the first time Queen Mary makes it to the UK final and Vinaya would very much appreciate your support on the day:

Hi, all!

I am a PhD student at QMUL and am taking part in the Vitae 3MT® live online final next Wednesday 16th September 2020 at 12-1pm (GMT+1) sponsored by Taylor and Francis and UKRI. Please support me by registering to watch and vote in the competition on this website. Registration closes at 5pm on Tuesday 15th September.

Thanks so much for your support so far, especially in the QMUL regional final. I really appreciate this!

Thanks once again!
Vinaya

Registration is free and it would be great to have a big representation from Queen Mary in the audience.

More information about the 3MT competition and how to participate in the future is available on the Researcher Development webpages.

Best of luck, Vinaya!
