The Digital Environment Research Institute (DERI) at Queen Mary is organising a new cross-university network, called the NEtwork for Medical Image Computing (NEMIC). NEMIC aims to unite researchers (academics, postdocs and PhD students) across the University who are performing (or interested) in research relating to medical image computing and related healthcare applications – e.g. “AI meets medical imaging”. It is hoped that the NEMIC will provide an opportunity for researchers across the University to find out more about each other’s work, give presentations, discuss papers, and look for grant opportunities that leverage skills within the network.

So far around 45 individuals across DERI, the Faculty of Science and Engineering and School of Medicine and Dentistry have registered their interest to join the network and it is hoped activity will launch towards the end of February. If you’re interested in medical image computing and would like to express your interest in joining the network, please contact Professor Greg Slabaugh (g.slabaugh@qmul.ac.uk).
