The Doctoral College is happy to announce the return of our advice and social series: PGTips. We open our doors for an hour-long drop in session for Queen Mary's PGR students for useful tips and chatter. This is an opportunity for PGR students to contact the Doctoral College with any queries in an informal setting and also for catch-up with fellow PGR students across Queen Mary while enjoy tea, coffee, and cake.

Our next PGTips will run on 27 February 2024 from 2.30pm to 3.30pm in the PGR Common Room (GC7.01) Graduate Centre, Mile End campus.

This PGTips will focus on working with your doctoral supervisors. The supervisory relationship is one of the most important components of your doctoral process and it is very different than the relationship you may have had with your undergraduate or master’s dissertation supervisors, or with a line manager in a professional setting. Learning to navigate and balance this relationship can feel challenging at times.

We welcome Zi Parker (Head of the Doctoral College), Helen Shaw (Strategic Research Lead), and Melanie Crisfield (Researcher Development Advisor), all of whom have experience with doctoral supervisory relationships, to answer your questions and help address your concerns.

Reserve your spot here.
