About PGR Student Induction 

Queen Mary's PGR Student Induction is open to all beginning PGR students. Induction runs three times a year, once at the beginning of each semester. It is a chance for the Doctoral College to welcome our PGRs formally, and to about talk the life of a PGR student at Queen Mary. Our students will be able to meet the Doctoral College Director, as well as the faculties Deputy Deans for research. They will also find out more about the training and support they are expected to receive. 

Induction week for 2023-24 

The 2023-24 Semester 1 induction will take place as a series of online and in-person sessions from Monday, 2nd October to Thursday, 5th October 2023. Please note that most sessions will be held via Zoom. To register, please go to and search for course code DC104 (the subsequent sessions with course codes DC105 to DC108 are linked so students will be able to book all sessions in one go). Registered attendees will then be sent the session links on the day before each session.  

International Student Welcome session 

This session is specifically intended for international students and will include information about Life in London, Banking & Healthcare, Visas & support for International PGR students available at Queen Mary.

The session will be run in Zoom. Please register by going to and search for course code DC102. 

In-person session 

There will be an in-person session on Wednesday, 4th October 2023, 2-4pm. This will be our 'Getting to Know You Tea & Cake' session. This will take place in Quiet Study Room (MEL-G47), Library Mile End campus. Please register by going to and search for course code DC110. 

How to access Queen Mary’s booking system 

Please also note that access to the Course Booking System is a two-stage login process.  

To access the course booking system on students need their Queen Mary IT log in first. Then students will need to register a user account on the course booking system itself. 

To do so, please go to ‘Register’ (third tab at the top of the page) and complete the requested information to create a login. 

Following this, students can use the ‘Login’ tab (second tab at the top of the page) to log on to the system and book (or if required, cancel) courses.  

Any students who do not have their Queen Mary IT log in yet please email to register for the PGR Induction.
