Last month, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, announced plans for a healthcare-targeted air pollution alert to improve the way GP practices and NHS emergency departments are informed about high and very high pollution incidents.

With a direct alert to healthcare professionals, they can better support patients with higher risk of air-pollution related health problems and raise awareness about health impacts of poor air quality.

High air pollution alerts are already being directly provided to schools, local boroughs, across TFL bus and river signs, and social media and news channels.
