The Energy & Climate Change Law Institute is pleased to offer two partial tuition fee scholarships of £7,500 each for the September 2024 intake, for students wishing to follow the LLM in Energy and Climate Change Law.

The Energy & Climate Change Law Institute is a leading postgraduate law school within the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London. The aim of the Institute is simple- to provide a first class student experience; with world class teaching, a broad curriculum anchored in the real world of the energy sector; and to be a leading voice in the law and regulation of the energy transition.

You must have applied for the Energy and Climate Change Law LLM by 16 April 2024 (if you have applied by this date and not received an offer by 6 May please contact pglawscholarships@qmul.ac.uk quoting your application number and date of initial application.

The scholarship will be awarded to those who we deem to have successfully demonstrated their reasoning for being awarded a scholarship based on the following criteria;

  • Academic merit
  • Demonstrable interest in energy and climate change law
  • Future career plans
  • Financial need

In order to apply for this scholarship please complete and sign the online application form (the link is on the bottom of this page) and a 500 (max) word response to the following two question which should be submitted by email on a PDF to pglawscholarships@qmul.ac.uk.

We will also take into consideration the following documents submitted with your programme application. Please ensure they are all uploaded to the MySIS application portal.

  • Your CV
  • Full transcript of your grades: Undergraduate/Bachelors level/first degree level and Postgraduate/Masters (if applicable)
  • 1 x reference letter
  • Personal statement

Incomplete, incorrect, or late scholarship applications will not be accepted or processed.

All applications will be reviewed by a Panel of representatives from the Energy & Climate Change Law Institute.  Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in an interview on Skype or Zoom early June.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 28 June 2024 please wait to be contacted in this regard.

Please note that scholarship (both applications and awards) cannot be deferred.

What are scholarship winners required to do?

The successful candidate may be asked to assist with QMUL marketing events such as postgraduate open evenings and/or web/video student profiles; as well as supporting The Institute in promoting the scholarship (for example, through interviews, photos and presence at events).
