Our facilities

Our online learning platform allows you round-the-clock access to teaching material and recordings.

The QMplus platform

The QMplus online learning platform presents the information in a clear, succinct, and interactive way, and allows you round-the-clock access to teaching material and recordings so you can access it and learn in your own time. At the Blizard Institute, we have a dedicated team of e-learning support staff who continuously work to improve and update the online material so that you have the best student experience.

You will have access to weekly online material and clinical pictures. Alongside this you will find supplementary reading and a selection of relevant journal articles. The Student Café is an area of the platform which allows pictures and questions or messages to be posted for discussion within the group. Our students find this a useful way of interacting with other students all over the world.

The academic institution

The Aesthetic Medicine programme is hosted by the Centre for Cell Biology and Cutaneous Research at the Blizard Institute, part of Queen Mary University of London's Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry,. The Centre is one of the largest cutaneous research centres in Europe. It hosts groups of world-class academics and research-active staff, conducting research into basic science and a wide range of conditions, from aging and senescence, skin cancers and rare genetic conditions.

The Blizard Institute is the largest institute within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Our research and education span broad areas of modern biomedicine, with particular expertise in cell biology, genomics, immunology, neuroscience, primary care, population health and trauma sciences. Our research puts us among the top research institutions in the UK (REF 2014). We work closely with linked NHS hospital trusts which means that the School’s research and teaching is informed by an exceptionally wide-ranging and stimulating clinical environment. Queen Mary University of London is also part of the prestigious Russell Group - a body of leading UK universities dedicated to research and teaching excellence.
