Scholarships

The Music Scholars application is now closed and will reopen at the start of the 24/25 academic year.

QMUL provides opportunities for students to develop musical skills to the highest levels possible while ensuring support and encouragement across all abilities. QMUL introduced Music Scholarships in 2014. Scholarships contribute to the cost of instrumental or vocal tuition for successful scholars, for up to a maximum of three years, dependent on satisfactory progress. Applications are open to all undergraduate, postgraduate and research students who have firmly accepted an unconditional offer or are currently enrolled on a programme at Queen Mary. Awards of £350 are made to help meet the cost of instrumental or vocal tuition during the academic year. Successful candidates are either assigned tutors by the Head of Music Engagement or can choose tutors in consultation with the Head of Music Engagement. Music Scholars will have free access to the Music Rooms at all available times and have priority booking. Music Scholars will be listed as such in all relevant printed programmes. Music Scholars are expected to make a major contribution to the musical life of Queen Mary. Scholarships are generally awarded to students whose musical interests and talents can support Queen Mary’s commitment to music making within public engagement. Our current Music Scholars are studying with some of the most outstanding musicians and teachers in their field.
