Open Access & Plan S - what you need to know

When: Thursday, March 24, 2022, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Where: Online

Speaker: Prof Miriam Goldby, Prof Adrian Armstrong, Vijay Algoo and Sarah Saines

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Early Career Research (ECRs) Network Workshop (internal)

Whether you're an advocate for Open Access or would rather maintain the status quo, the open science movement is impossible to ignore, with the REF and numerous funders having strict OA requirements. This session will introduce you to the current state of play, and touch on upcoming changes (both confirmed and likely).

  • I've heard UKRI has a new Open Access policy - do I need to do anything?
  • Will the changes impact where I can publish?
  • What are the requirements for REF - have they changed? (Full guidance for the next REF is not yet available, but we'll do our best)
  • Which research funders require open access?
  • What is Plan S & which funders are signatories?

In this session we will address these questions and more. We will cover the various funder requirements; the routes via which you can publish open access; and how to ensure you don't fall foul of guideline changes.

If you have any queries regarding this event please contact Sarah Saines. Otherwise please register above to receive the meeting link (this will be sent the day before the event).

Speakers

Prof Miriam Goldby (CCLS), Prof Adrian Armstrong (SLLF), Vijay Algoo (Research Analyst, QMUL Library) and Sarah Saines (Research Manager, Dept of Law) will address the questions and the various funder requirements.
