Dr Shahrar Ali is professional services lead on Quality and Research. Since 2018, he has been working alongside Prof Jo Brown on NSS and the 2020 TEF submission for Medicine and Dentistry.

He supervises students under the MedPro programme and runs PBL modules for Physician Associate and MBBS (Applied Medical and Social Sciences, Brain and Behaviour, Human Development).

Prior to QMUL, Shahrar managed regional research centres at SOAS and led internationalisation strategy and fellowships quality at the University of London School of Advanced Study. He has taught courses on moral philosophy, medical ethics and professional ethics, at Birkbeck and other HEIs, and served as an external examiner for co-curricular studies at Imperial. He has previously worked in the European Parliament Science and Technology Unit on GM risk regulation.

Shahrar has degrees in biochemical engineering and philosophy and a PhD from UCL on the morality of lying and deception. He holds qualifications in leadership and management from the CMI.
