Dr Robert Adalbert

Senior Lecturer in Medical Sciences

Profile

Robert joined Queen Mary Medical School in January 2023 as a senior lecturer. He is involved in teaching histology to students in year 1 and 2 of the MBBS course and the graduate entry programme (GEP). Robert is also a problem-based learning (PBL) tutor for years one and two

Robert worked previously as an assistant professor at the University of Szeged Medical School in Hungary, where he had taught histology and anatomy. Prior to lecturing, he conducted postdoctoral research projects in the field of neurodegenerative diseases and ageing, first at the University of Cologne, and later at the Babraham Institute, University of Cambridge and the Royal Veterinary College London.

Teaching

Robert teaches histology on the Fundamentals of Medicine, Locomotor, Metabolism, Brain & Behaviour and Human Development modules. He is PBL tutor on different modules and supervisor for the Anatomy SSC.

Research

Research Interests:

Robert’s current research is focussed on the role of axon pathology in neurodegenerative diseases (ALS), ageing, chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) and equine recurrent laryngeal neuropathy.
