Maia Blumberg



Maia Blumberg joined Queen Mary in 2022 as a PhD researcher. Her doctoral project, funded by the HSS Principal’s Research Studentship, focusses on the collection and curation of medieval material culture through case studies of exhibitions. Supervised by Miri Rubin and Chris Moffat, Maia’s work explores how museum and heritage practices mediate relationships to the Middle Ages.

She is the BSHS Engagement Fellow 2023, working on the project ‘Shaping a New Museum at St George’s, University of London.’


Research Interests:

 Post-medieval reception of medieval culture
• Histories of acquisition, display & dispersal in museums
• Medievalism in literary and visual culture
• Material-oriented methodologies; uses of actor-network theory
