Profile

I did classics at Merton College, Oxford 1962-66, and served as a diplomat and in the Treasury, followed by private sector jobs in the finance sector. On retirement, I took an MA in Crusades History at QMUL/Royal Holloway. This was followed by a Doctorate in 2017, comprising an edition of John of Garland's De triumphis Ecclesie, now awaiting publication with translation. I published with Professor Jonathan Phillips, Caffaro, Genoa and the Twelfth-Century Crusades (2013).

Research

Research Interests:

I have currently a broad interest in medieval Latin translation and its historical context, including texts from the medieval universities, and documents about the status of the Jews in Poland.
