Profile

Project Title: Neutron scattering from disordered materials

Supervisor: Anthony Phillips and Helen Walker

Content:

The goal of this project is to develop tools to measure both the structural and vibrational entropy of materials. The ideal technique for this is neutron scattering. Our specific interest for developing these tools is to search for Barocaloric materials. This project is in collaboration with the ISIS neutron source.

This project will include the following activities:

1) Neutron scattering simulations (QENS & INES)

2) Comparing simulation data with actual neutron scattering data collected at ISIS

Funding: QM and ISIS
