Profile
Zaniar Ghadernezhad is a Lecturer in AI in the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London. He works in mathematical logic, mainly in model theory and its connections with group theory and topology, and increasingly on topological data analysis and the interactions between logic, data science and quantum computing.
Zaniar completed his PhD at the University of Münster and has previously held a lectureship at the University of Buckingham and postdoctoral positions at Imperial College London, the University of Freiburg, IPM Tehran, the University of Münster and the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.

Research
Research Interests:
Zaniar's research is in mathematical logic, at the interface of model theory, group theory and topology. He mainly works on amalgamation constructions, especially Fraïssé–Hrushovski generic structures, and on the automorphism groups arising from them, including their simplicity, the small index property, amenability and extreme amenability, and the classification of group topologies on them.
Beyond this, Zaniar is interested in the wider interaction between logic and computer science, particularly the connections between model theory, logic and data science, and in quantum computing. I also lead research projects on topological data analysis.
