The Planets group at Queen Mary has had another busy year! Here are some recent highlights.

4th March 2020: We were happy to host our friend, colleague, and recent Nobel Prize recipient(!) Prof. Didier Queloz on campus. Didier joined us for a day to talk about life, the Universe, and everything.
9th January 2020: The second ever London Exoplanet Day, which brings together scientists based in the wider London area in the field of extrasolar planets, was organised at Queen Mary. More than 30 experts in various areas related to exoplanets came together in the G O Jones building to show their latest results and facilitate further collaboration. 1st November 2019: We finally joined Twitter! The QMUL Planets group now tweets from @QMPlanets, joining our colleagues in the Cosmology group (@QMCosmology) in the Twitterverse.
23rd September 2019: Paul Hallam successfully defended his thesis: "Gap formation in protoplanetary discs". Paul's thesis deals with how massive planets open up gaps in protoplanetary discs: what sets the depth of the gap, and when do we expect vortices to form at the gap edges? Many thanks to his examiners, Dr. Farzana Meru and Prof. Carl Murray!
15-17th April 2019: Queen Mary co-hosted the UK Exoplanet meeting. The yearly meeting of the UK community interested in extrasolar planets was organised by London-based universities this year. This 3-day event saw ~150 participants from all over the UK present the latest results in the field.
