2020

• 14th of September: The 4^th BME Early Career Researcher Conference 2020 Hosted by Imperial College London, the Conference will be focusing on ‘Navigating the Academic Space’ with keynote speaker Professor Iyiola Solanke, Professor of EU Law, University of Leeds and Founder of Black Female Professor Forum. This conference offers you the opportunity to hear from BME researchers, from PhD student to Professor level (and beyond!) who share their experiences of how they have managed to navigate the academic space successfully so you can envision your own route to your place within the academic arena. (10-16:30).
• 9th of September: Addressing racial bias and racial inequalities in cancer research. A virtual panel discussion with Black and other minority ethnic researchers, and their allies, to seek input on actions that funders such as CRUK should take. Hosted by Cancer Research UK (CRUK) and the Francis Crick Institute’s PRISM Race Equity Network at 11-12.30.
  
• 28th of July: LGBT+Tech Startup Ecosystems: Entrepreneurs in Tel Aviv vs. London. Organised by the Imperial 600 LGBTQ+ staff network at 4:00-5:30 pm.
• 14th of July: Turning words into actions: Eliminating racism and racial inequality in higher education, at 3.30-4.30pm. (Universities UK).
• 8th of July: WONKHE @ Home: Black Lives Matter at 9.30 am - 12.30 pm. Taking action to tackle racism across HE, with Amatey Doku.
• 24th of April: "4th Annual Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Early Career Researchers (ECR) Conference" at Imperial College London. 
• 17th of April (Abstract deadline 9 February): "2020 Africans in STEM Symposium" Cambridge University. Details here.
• 16th of March: "Communicating science to a visually impaired audience: 3rd meeting" This meeting is open to everyone with an interest in finding out more about resources to make physics and astronomy topics accessible for people with visual impairment. Register using this Eventbrite link
• 12th of March: SBCS is organising a Cafe Culture workshop, shaped by the Wellcome Trust, entitled, ‘Recommend A Change’: an opportunity to talk about the challenges faced by QM-women (staff and students) and ideas on how to improve things. At the 3rd-floor coffee room. Fogg Building (11 am).
• 6th of March: International Women’s Day lunch in GO Jones 610 at 12.30 pm. All are welcome, if you would like to attend please email Dr Tessa Baker by end of Wednesday 4^th March 2020.
• 6th of March: "Postgraduate Women in Physics Conference at Nottingham University". A day of networking and hearing about the career paths of women who have completed a PhD. Please register to attend https://pgwipnotts.github.io/
• 4th of March: "A better place? Fostering inclusion in academia and industry" at Lancaster University. The main focus of the event will be on discussing the career progression of underrepresented groups in STEM, with the aim of sharing best practices between academia and industry. More details.
• All of February: As part of LGBT+ history month, QMUL is putting together a great number of events. Event details.
• 4th of February: “Overcoming the pain of growing up queer in a hetero-normative world”. Workshop organised by SBCS as part of LBGT+ history month. For more information and registration details (12-2 pm).

2019

• 24th of October: "AfroFuture Film Festival"(Pumzi, Afronauts, Jonah, Departure, Crumbs). As part of Black History Month, the SPA will be holding a film screening at the GO Jones LT (5 pm).
• 17th of October: As part of Black History Month, the SPA will be organising a lunchtime reading group at the Museum (1 pm-2 pm) with Mark Dery's "Black to the future" (pp. 179-185). 
• 13th-14th April: Queen Mary with the support of the Institute of Coding (IoC) is hosting a new event (Athena 2019) that aims to provide a platform for the technology industry to champion, encourage and inspire women in the field. Working with ShowCode, a competitive coding platform, Queen Mary will provide an opportunity at Athena 2019 for women already in tech to showcase their talent to industry and encourage others to consider tech-related education and careers. • 30th March:  Women in physics London 2019 conference. This is a day-long event, with talks from speakers on their research or work and any challenges they may have faced during the process of their careers. There is a panel structured on the ‘Future of Physics’, with panellists ranging across postgraduates and doctorates. To conclude the conference, there is a networking reception where attendees have the opportunity to meet and speak to panellists or speakers from the conference.
• 8th March: School of Geography International Women's Day Cake Sale. All money raised will be donated to the charity Endometriosis UK. From 11 am, Geography Common room (118).
• 7th March: PsiStar Talk on Particle Physics and Q&A celebrating International Women's Day with Dr Marcella Bona. 6:00-7:30 pm GO Jones LT
• 20th February - STEM Women event focussing on Interview and Networking skills.
• 13th February -  SPA / PsiStar will host LGBT history month talks by James Claverley (NPL,  Linda Cremonesi (UCL) and Anthony Phillips (QMUL), 4:30 pm at GO Jones 610
• 8th February- Join us for the first QMOUT Social of the year! 12-2 pm, Peoples Palace
• 8th February- Hear from ELOP (our local LGBTQ+ holistic support centre), and Dr Helen Bintley (researcher in medical education and LGBTQ+ healthcare education) at our  QMOUT Seminars, 2-4 pm Geography 2.20
• 5th February - Talk on “Understanding Gender Dysphoria”, led by Dr James Barrett, lead clinician at the Gender Identity Clinic and President of the British Association of Gender Identity Specialists, 6-8 pm Perrin LT at the Blizard Institute (Whitechapel)
• 5th February - Lunchtime seminar on 'Gender and ethnic inequity in speaking opportunities at a major scientific conference' by Dr Heather Ford, NERC Independent Research Fellow, and School of Geography, City Centre Seminar Room (Bancroft 2.07). 

2018

• 8th November - Angela Saini will be visiting QMUL as part of her 'Inferior' book tour. More info.
• 13th October - Celebrating Diversity - Joint Wine and Cheese event with the School of Mathematical Sciences 15:00-17:00 at the Senior Common Room
• 11th October - Screening of Hidden Figures Movie by WISE@QMUL (5pm Arts One lecture theatre - just turn up) 
• 2nd October - Oval House talk by Linda Cremonesi, former QMUL grad student.
• Women in Physics London, took place on the 31st of March 2017 at KCL, with a contribution from QMUL's Dr Marcella Bona.
• The IoP 2017 report on "Improving Gender Balance - Reflections on the impact on interventions at schools" is out and available.
• WISE@QMUL organised the "International Women's Day Celebration" event on the 8th of March 2017

2016

• The IoP is holding a "Taking Control of your Career as a Female Physicist" event on Wednesday 9 November, 2016, 10am – 4.30pm
• Women's Day Celebration, 10th March 2016, School of Physics and Astronomy QMUL. We organised an event with several inspirational speakers, attended by about 25 people ranging from undergraduates to the head of School.

• Women in Physics Day, 9th March 2015, University of Portsmouth: Graduate students can sign up and JUNO will cover any travel expenses.
• Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics, 19th-22nd March 2015. JUNO will sponsor 2 undergraduate students to attend this event - for more information.

2014

• 2014-11-25: JUNO Champion, IoP team visit
• School of Physis Unconscious Bias Training session, 19th July.
• Averil MacDonald, the SEPnet Diversity and Impact Lead gave a group of 23 members of SPA a 2-hour session on unconscious bias, which led to some interesting discussions about possible actions we could think about in the school. Apparently, this was the biggest group Averil has trained so far. Thank you everybody for participating.
