The School of Physics and Astronomy warmly congratulates this year's winners of the Nobel Prize in Physics: Jim Peebles, "for theoretical discoveries in physical cosmology", and Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz, "for the discovery of an exoplanet orbiting a solar-type star."
Outreach initiative nominated for Times Higher Education Award

We are delighted to announce that a School of Physics and Astronomy outreach project has been nominated for a Times Higher Education Award.
At the LHC, physicists need to process large amounts of data in short time. This is typically done with rule-based algorithms designed through domain knowledge, which can reach very large accuracy at the cost of big execution time.
