Mathematical Principles for Artificial Intelligence

Module code: SPC4002

Credits: 30.0
Semester: YEAR

Contact: Dr Christopher White

The design, implementation and analysis of modern artificial intelligence technology uses a range of key mathematical concepts and techniques. This module introduces students to the relevant topics, including aspects of linear algebra, calculus of several variables, probability and statistics, information theory, numerical computation, optimisation and the mathematical basics of machine learning algorithms. Practical examples are used to illustrate abstract ideas, and students will develop their understanding through hands-on problem solving.
