Prerequisite: Before taking this module you must ( take PSY124 and take PSY125 ) or take BMD161
This module is designed to give you a scientific overview of psychopathology based on related theoretical frameworks and empirical findings, and to critically evaluate the range of approaches in this field. In this course, you will focus on the history of the classification and diagnosis of common mental health disorders, and on key common mental disorders including mood disorders (depression & bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders and schizophrenia. Psychological therapies will also be discussed. You will develop an understanding of the symptoms and diagnoses across the mental disorders as well as the risk factors and treatments used for common mental disorders.
