Imagining Society

Module code: POL181

Credits: 15.0
Semester: SEM2

Contact: Dr Jamie Matthews

In this module, you will explore what it means to apply the 'sociological imagination' to the world around you; what it means to think, read and write sociologically. Sociology provides a particular set of sensitivities and approaches to understanding the world and making claims about it. This module will consider how diverse scholars produce knowledge about society through the different approaches, assumptions and frameworks they employ, and we will apply this in developing your own social research skills, bringing a sociological sensibility to a variety of texts and contexts.
