Number Theory

Module code: MTH6131

Credits: 15.0
Semester: SEM1

Contact: Mr Subhajit Jana
Overlap: In taking this module you cannot take MTH5130
Prerequisite: Before taking this module you must take MTH4104

This module considers fundamental problems in number theory, related to the distribution of prime numbers and integer solutions to Diophantine equations. Students will learn core concepts in number theory such as the existence of primitive roots modulo a prime and quadratic reciprocity. Additionally, students will learn the basics of algebraic and analytic number theory and how to efficiently solve computational questions which arise in number theory.
