Internet memes, AI-generated content, embodied narratives and multisensory space design all highlight the increasingly multimodal character of communication. This module focuses on the interplay of language and other forms of making meaning across contexts, from digital media across platforms and print media to face-to-face interactions. Going beyond traditional linguistic analysis, students explore a range of meaning-making practices across diverse environments and global contexts in a culturally sensitive, systematic way.
