The module is designed to enable final year students to pursue a sustained piece of individual research on an agreed topic which may not necessarily be covered in the taught modules. Workshops are designed to support different components of conducting an individual research project. This module is compulsory for single-honours English Language and Linguistics students, and joint honours English Literature and Linguistics students who are not taking the research project module in the English Department. All joint-honours students (incl. English Lit and Linguistics) wishing to take this module must ordinarily have completed the prerequisite module Research Methods in Linguistics. Those who have not taken this module must meet the module organiser before registration to discuss their registration. Registration for these students is subject to approval of the convenor.
