Module code: EMS696U

Credits: 120.0
Semester: YEAR

Contact: Dr Jun Chen

Students will be helped to secure a work placement through a range of initiatives. It is envisaged that the work placement will normally be a year in length but not less than 6 months. Successful applicants will each be allocated a placement officer, who will wherever practical visit the student once in the year. SEMS will also be in touch with the students' line manager to track performance. It is anticipated that during the work placement the students will undertake a wide range of activities to gain an awareness of professional practice and to fulfill a significant amount of the continuing professional development requirements required to register as a Chartered Engineer within a few years of graduation. Students completing the module will be expected to return to the University at least once in the year, as part of the Industrial Liaision Forum Year in Industry panel to provide support to the students who are planning to take a year out in the following years. They will also complete a series of blogposts during the placement. This module is a pass/fail module.
