How do people use their voices, and what does this reveal or conceal about their gendered identities? How do gendered voices intersect with other aspects of identity, such as region, class, nation and race? Drawing on theoretical material from a range of disciplinary fields, including cultural philosophy, sociolinguistics, film studies, and psychology, this module will consider the voicing of gender in a variety of different physical spaces and discursive spheres - from the playground to Parliament - and through a range of media, including theatre, internet, TV, film and music.
