Ever wondered what was so new about the novel? Or if epics are really worthy of the name? This module introduces the study of genre in world literature, providing you with a solid understanding of the ways in which different cultures express themselves in different times in writing. And considering that many ancient text types are still with us today, we will also explore what makes some reads so great and certain genres (such as epic, tragedy, biography, poetry, the novel and novella) so adaptable and enduring.
