This module is appropriate to first-year students undertaking degree programmes in the chemical sciences. It provides training in the principles and practice of key techniques and skills of practical chemistry ¿ including analytical methods, synthetic procedures, methods of purification and the use of a range of instrumental techniques. Topics such as good laboratory practice, health and safety in the laboratory, the recording of data and data analysis techniques are also covered. This course provides training in the fundamental skills required of a practicing chemist.
