Over four weeks, health professionals with an interest in digital health will explore what digital health is in a post-digital world and what it means for the future of medicine and healthcare.

About the Digital Health course

The free course, created by a team of educators, researchers and clinicians from Cairo, Egypt and the United Kingdom, represents various specialities in the health care profession. The project was funded by the British Council and led by the Digital Education Studio team at Queen Mary and Virtual Hospital at Ain Shams University.

Building on expertise in the digital health arena

This new course builds on the expertise of both institutions in the digital health arena. Queen Mary was recently awarded an Excellence in Digital Health Education award at Med-tech World; and Ain Shams University is the first telemedicine hospital outside of the United States to be accredited by the American Utilization review accreditation commission (URAC).

The course will be launched on Monday 15 January 2024 – and students can study online and flexibly at their own pace from anywhere in the world and achieve a certificate of completion that counts towards their continuing professional development.

Professor Jo Martin, lead educator of Digital Health course, Deputy Vice Principal (Health) and Professor of Pathology at Queen Mary commented: “The digital health agenda is huge in health care. It enables us to bring much fairer, more democratised health care across the globe. In the course, you will enjoy meeting clinicians, practitioners and the people who use digital health. We have world experts in digital health brought to you through this course. I commend the course to you and hope that you have a fantastic time on it.”

Professor Hoda MF Wahba, lead educator of Digital Health course, Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder of Ain Shams University Virtual Hospital, Professor of Geriatrics and Gerontology said: “We are trying to implement digital health technologies, to help patients all over the world, not just in Egypt, but also in low resource settings. And this is very exciting when we're working with Queen Mary to discover that we're all on the same track. This course about digital health is going to change and improve the way we do health care. Going through the course, you will find information that will open windows to you.”
