FAQs
How do I find my library barcode?
Your Library barcode is found on on the front of your Queen Mary ID card. It is a 10-digit number starting with '023.' You can also find the barcode on MySIS.
How do I join the Library?
Students do not need to join the Library as this is done automatically. Your Queen Mary ID card also acts as your Library card and should be ready to use once you have completed enrolment.
How many books can I borrow?
Current Queen Mary staff and students in Malta can borrow up to 6 items.
How do I renew my books?
We have a flexible borrowing policy for 7-day loan books. This means they will automatically renew for up to 51 weeks unless:
The item has been reserved, your library account is blocked or the item is a 1-day loan
How do I return my books?
Items should be returned inside the Library using the self-service kiosks.
If they are not working, there is a manual form at the Library Desk where you should write your name, book title and barcode number found at the front of the book.
How much will the fine be on my overdue item?
At Queen Mary we have a zero fines policy. This means that you will not be charged any fines for overdue items. However it is your responsibility to be able to return items that are required by other users or reached the 51-week renewal limit.
How do I print from my laptop or phone?
You can wireless print from your laptop, smartphone or tablet, and pick them up within 24 hours. Go to myprint.qmul.ac.uk
If using a mobile you may need to click the link under the 'Dashboard' to view the desktop version of the webpage. Select 'Web Print' from the left-hand menu
Select 'Submit a job' / Select a printer / Enter the number of copies required / Upload your files / Select 'Submit a job' to send it to a printer
Can I borrow a laptop?
The Library has 3 laptops available to loan to students which can be loaned for a period of 7 days at a time. Any extensions would depend on availability and require approval.
Students will request the loaning of a laptop in person or via email to the Librarian and will be required to sign the Borrower Responsibility Form.
A late fee of 1 euro per day will be applied.
Do Malta students have access to QMUL Libraries in London?
Yes, all students are entitled to use the facilities of any Queen Mary Library at any time
throughout the year.
