Hub for Professional Practice

Tools for practice

Our goal is to develop projects with partner organisations as part of the Hub for Professional Practice which will create practical educational and learning tools – ranging from research on the “skills for the future” to “apps” and technology platforms to support legal sector professionals in their career development.

A spanner in a cogAs part of this work, we want to push the boundaries of “how” practitioner learning takes place, and build new approaches to increase learning effectiveness and enhance career fulfilment.

Our belief is that good learning takes place especially when there is the opportunity to apply one’s insights in the workplace as soon as practically possible, “learning in the flow of work” as Josh Bersin famously described it. With this “learning in the flow of work” philosophy of development as one of our Hub’s core Values, we will seek to help busy practitioners not only to stay at the front edge of what they need to learn, but also – perhaps even more importantly – to develop good habits on how they can best learn.

Skills for future legal services practitioners

One current area of focus in the “Hub”, working with colleagues at Fractal Knowledge, is to consider the skill-set which future legal practitioners will need as the legal services market evolves rapidly in an increasingly digital world.

See our current thinking in this area of “future legal skill-sets” for law students and more senior practitioners.
