Anastasia Bermudez

Anastasia Bermudez is a BeIPD-COFUND Post-doc Fellow at the Center for Ethnic and Migration Studies (CEDEM), Université de Liège. She has more than ten years’ experience researching Latin American migration to the UK and Spain, with a specific emphasis on the Colombian population. Past projects have focused on issues of transnational political participation, looking at both Colombian migrants' relationship with the armed conflict and efforts for peace in the home country, as well as their engagement in the Colombian elections through the external vote. Anastasia's research is heavily influenced by the transnational perspective and adopts a gender-based approach. Currently, I am studying the impact of the economic crisis on the Colombian communities based in Madrid, London and Brussels.
