Profile

Professor Hongliang Wang is director of the E-commerce Law Research Center of Tsinghua University Law School, Beijing, China. Professor Wang received his Juris Doctor in law from Freiburg University. He received his PhD and Master in law from China University of Political Science and Law, and his Bachelor in Law from North-West University of Political Science and Law. His scholarly interest is in property law, contract law, security  law and civil procedural law. He teaches Property Law, Contract Law, Comparative Law and General Principles of Civil Law. Professor WANG has published more than 40 law review articles and 3 monographs, including The General Theory of Obligational Law (2016),Function and Basis of the Real Claims (dingliche Ansprueche) (2011) and Security in Immovables in Germany and China (Dissertation) (2005).

Professor Wang joined Tsinghua University in 2004. Before that, he worked as a research assistant in Institut für deutsches und ausländisches Zivilprozessrecht I, Freiburg University for half a year. He received Scholarship from DAAD in 2001 and Federal Chancellor Scholarship from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2007.

Professor Wang’s part-time positions in Chinese judicial organizations include: Arbitrator in Beijing Arbitration Commission; deputy general secretary and member of a council in Chinese Civil Law Association; member of a council in Chinese Association of Comparative Law; executive member of Chinese Law Association of Consumers’ Rights Protection; and chief editor of the journal ‘Studies on the Chinese and German Private Law’.
