Profile

Pietro Manzini is Professor of European Union Law at the University of Bologna but has a large experience, both theoretical and practical, not only in EU law but also in International Law. During 2001-2009, he taught International law at the Department of Political science. From 2006 to 2009, he was member of the governing board of the Political Science Department and, between 2006 and 2012, he was Director of the Master course in International Relations of the University of Bologna. In 2009-2011, he was seconded as national expert to the Legal Service of the European Commission by the Italian Government. There he served in the external relations team dealing with diplomatic legal issues of the EU with the rest of the world and the negotiation of some commercial international agreements.

Public Engagement

In regards to his EU experience, between 1998 and 1999, Pietro Manzini served as the legal clerk of an Italian Judge at the European Court of justice. Since 2003, he has been nominated several times as external lawyer representing the European Commission in competition cases before the EU courts. He is member of the Italian Society of International and European Law and the Association of European Lawyers.
