Blizard Building

The Blizard Building at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry is steeped in history. The building was named after Sir William Blizard FRS PRCS, who led the foundation of the London Hospital Medical College, and is home to the Blizard Institute – a state-of-the-art centre for research and education.

The Blizard is an excellent institute in which to develop your career in medical and biomedical sciences. It has consistently high research rankings and is one of the UK's most important medical research institutes, benefitting from its links with the other prestigious institutes of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

The impressive 9,000 square metre structure provides world-class teaching and research facilities including:

  • open-plan laboratories
  • seminar and study spaces
  • Perrin Lecture Theatre.

It is also home to the Centre of the Cell, the first science education centre in the world to be located within working biomedical research laboratories.

Blizard is located next to the new Royal London Hospital, in the thriving East End of London just minutes from Spitalfields and the City.
