Jumana Ahmed

Jumana completed her MSc in Psychology: Mental Health Sciences in 2023 and achieved a Distinction grade overall.

On the programme she enjoyed studying a range of modules including: Advanced research methods and statistics, Mental health in context, Cognitive neuroscience, Psychiatric genetics and genomics, Social-environmental influences on mental health.

Her dissertation project titled: ‘Healthcare Professionals Are All T1DE Up: A Qualitative Study Exploring The Experiences Of Healthcare Professionals Working With T1DE’ explored healthcare professionals’ experiences of working with patients with T1DE and their subsequent views on the use of clinical practices to treat T1DE through qualitative semi-structured interview methods. She was eager to assess how T1DE is understood by healthcare services as a whole, as well as the processes and barriers involved in identifying, referring, and treating this population.

Jumana is now an Assistant Psychologist in East London NHS Foundation Trust CAMHS where she works to provide emotional support to young people experiencing complex mental health difficulties. Jumana’s role has a specific focus on early prevention and intervention within the school context involving both whole school, group and
individual approaches.
