Careers and employability

Our programme is ideal if you aspire to a career in biomedical science, including middle or senior management within the NHS Pathology Service and commercial sector or biomedical science research.

The programme will prepare you for the next stage of your career, whether you enter employment or pursue further research in the fields of biomedical science or medical microbiology. Our students have gone on to study graduate entry medical degrees, work as biomedical scientists and undertake PhD study.

The programme is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS). As this is a postgraduate qualification, this accreditation enables you to apply for the title of Chartered Scientist if you are eligible. However, it does not fulfil the requirements for registration as a Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council. You should check with the appropriate bodies that the course you plan to follow will be suitable for any professional accreditation you may require.
