Student View: Freshers Bucket List
The Queen Mary Bucket list - 23 things every fresher needs to do
Get ready to tick them all off!
- Spend way too long obsessing about which posters to buy from the Freshers' poster sale
- Spend even more time wondering about which ones to put up in your new uni room to send out the correct message about ~Who You Are~ .
- Get ALL the freebies from the Freshers’ fair. Don’t forget to sign up for free sports taster sessions.
- Try your luck and go through a second time to see if there’s any of that free pizza left over.
- Get Freshers' flu.
- Spend an appalling amount on Freshers' events tickets. Make it to about 18% of the events you bought tickets for.
- Meet loads of people in Freshers' week and get all their numbers. At the end of the year, look back through your phone and wonder who on earth ‘Emily QM’ and ‘Jake Freshers' Week’ are.
- Spend all day designing and making an outrageously impressive fancy dress outfit only to spend the whole night in Drapers and have it completely ruined by spilled drinks and people stealing your ears/tail/wings.
- Recover from Freshers' flu.
- Spend a sunny lunchtime eating by the canal.
- Allow your flatmates to persuade you to go out for ‘one drink’ before your 9am.
- Go to said lecture very hungover/still drunk. Vow never to do it again.
- Do it again.
- Buy a membership at Qmotion but only manage to drag yourself to the gym twice in the first term.
- Offer to buy a round whilst out in your first week before realising you can't afford the rest of the year, let alone doing rounds again.
- Buy a re-usable Queen Mary travel mug and get 25% off beverages at the Ground.
- Use said mug as an excuse to treat yourself every day.
- Realise you cannot afford to treat yourself every day.
- Join a club or society. Attend a few training sessions and all the socials.
- Go on tour with said club or society.
- Visit a friend at another university. Go all out on the shots when you realise how much cheaper they are.
- Complain about the lack of brunch places and/or things to do in your friend's university town the next day, realise how incredibly lucky you are to study in London and vow never to complain about London ever again!
- Complain about the tube the next day.
