A mark of quality

Our BSc Psychology programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society, so you can trust that you’ll receive a quality learning experience.

The British Psychological Society is the representative body for psychologists in the UK, and is responsible for the development, promotion and application of psychology for the public good.

They award accreditation only to institutions whose Psychology programmes continually meet their standards, so it’s a mark of quality that employers recognise and value.

It also means that all students who graduate from our BSc Psychology programme with at least a second-class honours degree (an overall pass with at least 50%) are eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society – a great starting point for a career in psychology. This will also allow you to move onto a postgraduate program that requires BPS accreditation such as clinical psychology working with patients with mental illnesses.

As a graduate member, you’ll have access to a wealth of resources and training to further your professional education and widen your network. You’ll receive the title 'MBPsS' after your name; a subscription to The Psychologist (print and digital); free online access to the Society's archive of academic journals; and discounts on conferences and events, along with a range of other benefits.

In addition to this, the course at Queen Mary is unlike any other top university courses as it has a strong biological and statistical component, which prepares you to be able to transfer straight from an undergraduate to a PhD programme.
