Our exceptional facilities

The space in which you learn plays an important role in your studies. It should help to inspire you, allow you to meet your academic challenges head-on, and provide room for collaboration and socialising.

Maths Building

The School of Mathematical Sciences provides exactly this sort of learning space in its new home, which was recently refurbished to the highest acoustic and environmental standardsApproximately £18m was invested - and the result is an environment which matches the needs of both staff and students and allows them to flourish. It even includes social spaces for those moments between studying.

Following the refurbishment, the facilities you have will have access to are: a new lecture theatre which seats up to 144 students, high-quality teaching rooms, undergraduate social hubs where you can talk and relax with your friends, private and group study areas, a postgraduate research office, and a new IT lab space fitted with 42 computers.

The refurbishment also responds artistically in its design to the School’s academic function, with the building clad with panels that form a Penrose tiling pattern.

Outside of the School itself, our London location means you are within a short distance of research libraries, archives and museums, as well as the library facilities across our campuses.

To get a better idea of the space you’ll be learning in, you can take a virtual video tour. You can also view photos of the building here.
