We have students from around the world on our Material Science programme. Some had it in their head to study the subject years ago. Others felt their calling was a different area, such as aeronautics, then discovered material science met their natural skills and interests.
As they explain, there’s a lot of fun to be had, like building a self-powered boat. And while many industries simply appreciate the analysis skills we teach; there are a range of direct careers, from sports equipment and transport to architecture. As a relatively new area, there aren’t many experts in the field, either.
