Your chosen programme will be instrumental in building the key clinical and communication skills needed to be a qualified dental professional.
Through outreach work, clinical skills sessions, lectures, symposia and small group teaching you will develop and nurture the necessary academic and real-life expertise – and become familiar with the challenges associated with dentistry.
From day one, you’ll also have access to a bespoke careers programme, which can provide supplementary experiences and skills designed to give you an advantage after graduating. Workshops, practical sessions and talks from industry professionals are all part of the programme, including a specialist careers consultant who offers one-to-one careers programme advice via Skype or the phone. Because there are number of career paths available to you, these resources will help you to understand each one and how to access them.
In addition to your studies, clinical and outreach work, you are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular work experience. To help you with this, you’ll have access to QProjects, our award-winning work experience scheme.
Then there’s the dedicated Careers and Enterprise team at Queen Mary, who you can pop in to see at any time. They are on hand to offer careers and enterprise support – which are great additions to your CV and can expand your knowledge of your chosen subject. Before and during the job application process, the team will provide feedback on applications, cover letters and CVs. Interview coaching is also available.
