- Instagram dimensions: 320 x 320 pixels (profile picture only).
- LinkedIn dimensions: at least 400 x 400 pixels (profile picture) and 1584 x 396 for optimum banner size.
- X dimensions: 400 x 400 pixels (profile picture) and 1500 x 500 (banner image).
Access the Content and Brand team's image guidance if you would like further help.
Username
- Note: Your username and your display name can be different, and you can update your display name without having to update your username / handle. This is useful should your title change from (eg) Dr to Professor.
- Try not to change your username too often as it is how people find you.
- If you do change your username, then remember to update any links to the relevant pages.
- Consider incorporating your professional title so people know it’s you.
Bio
- If you’re not a prolific social media user, or there are certain platforms that you prefer over others, then mention this and direct people to where you are active (even if it’s just your QM email).
- Patchy info and no picture mean you’re your profile risks not looking legitimate. Note: Please add “views my own” caveat to your bio.
- Add your place of work and keywords related to your research / area of expertise in your bio to improve your search rankings.
- If possible, please tag @QMUL (X), @qmul.ac.uk (Bluesky) or @officialqmul (Instagram) in your bio.
