Design

Disabilities vary greatly, and can include visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive impairments. In design, visual impairment is particularly important, though the needs of users can differ.

Design

This guidance will focus on individuals with low vision and blindness, who rely on screen readers as this is something we can factor into the design process. Other conditions such as dyslexia and autism may require distinct or similar design approaches.

Common design outputs

What is required, and possible, in making designs accessible will vary according to the type of assets being produced. At the university, PDFs and social media graphics are some of the most common outputs we create so these will be covered within this guidance.
